After his master's death, Wyamme leaves isolation to fulfill his master's dreams of him becoming a protector of the emperor. Luck would have it that he meets his childhood companions, who by now are wandering the world in search of their chances to prove themselves. They unite, join the security guild, and set off on their first mission to protect a trading caravan. The capture of his friend Mosey spells destruction for the caravan. Wyamme survives the attack with two broken legs and his own sword impaled through his neck. Without bodies to mourn over, he doesn't truly know if his friends survived or not. He's taken to a hospital and recovers, but the bill are staggering and he's never seen a penny before. But there's still hope: his doctor offers him a chance to work on his property as a night-guard. If he succeeds, his journey to glory as an imperial protector can resume - but if he fails, he won't survive the next slaughter. Yonderland is a novel that pushes the barriers of genre and conventional storytelling, cleverly combining elements of George R. R. Martin, Frank Herbert, and Terry Pratchett. The manuscript is finished at 84,680 words. It takes place in the perfectly-circular realm of Homeland, where magic coexists with modern technology, and anyone can achieve super-human excellence if they put their mind to it.
