This work is a combination of facts from his MPhil thesis on Yilo Krobo and the Doctoral Thesis on Krobo States. An added fact to expand some of the themes in the work was undertaken in 2012 throughout Yilo Krobo traditional area to have in-depth analysis of the data gathered.This book derives its concern from the misconception of Yilo Krobo contemporary history, politics and cultural traditions. It delves into the past only because otherwise it would be impossible to understand how present came into being and trends are for the near future. In search for an understanding of what is now called development in Ghana and for, that matter Yilo Krobo, the limits of enquiry have had to be fixed as far apart as the Lolovor period around the sixth century AD; stretching to the thirteenth century on the mountain abode to the end of colonial era and to the present era in the twenty-first century AD.The book is a resource material for educators, researchers and students who wish to explore the nature and origin of states in Africa.
