This is a well written, exciting military based story which holds your attention from beginning to end. I could not put the book down, nor wait to review it. The book's story is based on a Grandfather of WWII vintage and a granddaughter who is a fighter pilot. They are involved in different ways, as the US goes to war with China. With current tensions between China and Taiwan and the US trying to help with peace negotiations, it is a very relevant read. Once you have a feel for the military jargon (a great glossary is printed in the back of the book) the story takes you on a wild ride and the excitement and fears of war in the Asian theater. A fantastic and exciting read. My wife read it first and loved it so much she kept pushing me to read it also, I'm glad I did. I hope his sequel is in the works. Congratulations Mr.Smith. Outstanding Military Thriller

Year Of The Tiger is an outstanding military thriller that will keep you turning the pages until the last issue is settled. In addition to a suspensful story set around a conflict with China, Owen Smith provides a knowledgeable view inside the operations of a modern navy carrier group. The personal story of "Warrior Woman", Kelly Owen is compelling and illustrates how women are being integrated into the world of modern combat teams. A great read and one you shouldn't miss.
Asian Pre-history - Dangerous, High Times on the China Coast

Stan Smith's first novel, "Year of the Tiger," is a fictional pre-history of dictatorial, aggressive China's plan to dominate first Taiwan, then the region. Only a US Navy battle group stands between freedom of the seas for all and the Chinese challenge to world democracies. SOS' novel defines the technology, resources, personnel and resources required to defend our freedoms and those of our allies who choose to live free. This is an urgent wake-up call to prepare for the coming confrontations in Asia. A must read.

The world is getting smaller these days, and we are starting to unlock some of the secrets of places such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran and North Korea. But China still remains hidden behind a dark veil of mystery. As the only two remaining real 'superpowers', the US and China will ultimately determine the course of world events for centuries to come. In Year of the Tiger by Stanley Owen Smith, you are able to get a front row seat for the possible conflict that could come about. Seldom does a military thriller come into purview at a more propitious time, when world events are moving rapidly toward the establishment of China as a modern day super power. If you love to learn all about the wide range of high-tech military assets that America owns, this author fills the bill, as well as giving you the exciting story of an up to date woman pilot out to prove herr mettle. The author brings together the distinct possibility of war between China and the U.S. with all its frightening consequences. You will be thrown into the grips of such a horrific event. If you love Clancey, you will love this book. There are a lot of actresses in Hollywood who are going to be fighting over the role of Kelly Owen, modern day Warrior Woman.
