Holt at his best

This book has everything I look for in Holt. Good fun, literate humor and a plot that won't tax the mind too deeply. It centers on Jason, a nice enough young man. He has a few bad habits, like killing things, and he sometimes wanders off to supernatural realms without leaving a number where he can be reached. Outside of that, he's the kind you might take home to meet your family. Then there's his family ...Holt manages to sustain a seriously slanted view of a world that very nearly makes sense. If you like Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett, you may well like this.

Ye Gods! What a mythological whirlwind!

This is one of the bast book I've ever read, and a must for people interested in mythology. A modern tale of an unlikely hero throw into a subversive plot to take over the cosmos. I suppose being the son of Jove dies have its drawbacks. This and "Flying Dutch" make Tom Holt easily my favorite British author.

Laugh a little, and hold the depth

Not a book for someone wanting a deep, thought provoking read. In order to really enjoy this novel, you have to go into it not expecting something spectacularly brilliant. However, the book is light, and filled with dry humor and wit. I highly recomend it for someone who needs a bit more laughter in their reading.

I laughed. A lot!!

I too was given this book by a fellow-Pratchett fan. His sense of humor is brilliant, and he uses the tools of understatement and sarcasm to their fullest.

His best book, and that's saying a lot

This Is one of The funniest books I have ever read. I forst started it because A Terry Pratchett fan recommended it. I picked it up idely in the Library, and read a couple pages. I immediatly burst out laughing. Just the way that TH shows how the gods might behave now is hilarious. Whith little facts like Ares is now a peace-monger, and Hades has sold Hell to the London Underground, this is a n Awsome book Read It!
