Yardie Living is based on a true story situated in Kingston, Jamaica. It focuses on life in the slums, and how a family navigates living in poverty while surviving each other.

The story brought into focus Swofiyah, a sexually abused child who wanted to become a killer like her aunty. Deidre, her younger sister who would do anything to ensure their mother stayed in favor of her. Klam, her oldest sister, the dyslexic and the most abused. Janet, their abusive mother whose only true love in life was her ganja spliffs. Aunty Norma, the genius behind the Community Protectors Organization, and Chris whom she tried to keep away from his father, the drugs don with the voodoo power.
