How now, brown cow? ;)

I wonder what people like Truth@Smart.Net, who wrote negative reviews of this book, think NOW, now that "Y2K" has turned into an absolute NON-event? Kudoes to Mr. Hunt for his calm debunking of hysterical myths!

A truly biblical and common sense response to mass hysteria

Dave Hunt tells it like it is! This book is biblically sound and extremely factual. Y2K has been hyped up so much that many people are truly panicking. In this book, Dave explains from Scripture, why the panic and fear is unfounded. Trusting in God's provision, taking necessary precautions--like you would do in a snowstorm, tornado, flood, etc. is the answer to the mass hysteria. Y2K: A Reasoned Response to Mass Hysteria is a must for everyone--especially the people who believe the world will end on January 1,2000! Common sense preparedness is always better than panic. Panic breeds fear. I believe, after reading Dave's book, that most of the panic will be caused by the "alarmists" and not by the Y2K bug itself (which really isn't a bug anyway)! Biblically accurate and Christ-centered with lots of common sense! Highly recommended!

Finally a book with some common sense.

Dave Hunt has managed to do what almost all of the other authors of popular Y2K books failed at. He analyzed the situation with common sense and avoided the tendency toward the sensationalism prevalent in other books. While other books deal with the speculative "this could possibly happen if nothing is done", Dave deals with "this will probably happen given the current progress". I'd highly recommend this book for anyone that's been caught up in the alarmism of this subject or who knows someone that is. My only criticism is that I think Dave gives some of the doomsayers more credit than they deserve. He assumes they know more about computers than they really do.

Excellent balanced view of what could be an alarming subject

Dave Hunt has been well balanced & scripturally sound on many subjects that have been sensationalized by his colleagues. I felt confident in his assessment of the Y2K dilemma, knowing that he would not follow the "alarmist crowd" just to be popular. To the contrary, he emphatically urges "alarmists" to update their research & cease warning of shutdowns in areas that are now Y2K compliant. Hunt says if there are tremendous upheavals in our way of life at the turn of the century, it will be due to a hysterick reaction to the Y2K problem -- and not the problem itself. This book should be at the front of the line instead of buried under all the other babblings.

A different perspective in a time of serious concern

With a bias towards Dave's books anyways, it was not surprising to me to find that his perception of this soon-coming-hysteria is not a common one. Well researched, he raises the questions such as ,"What will the church do if no tragedy occurs and we are responsible for mass hysteria?" " What delusions and further fuel have we given if none of this panic materializes and people will no longer believe the Bible as credible?" A must read if you are a serious student of the WORD.
