"Honestly, this book's come to have a strange hold on me. It's new - variety, certainly. Oddly for poetry, what'll stick is that you can't help turning the pages. I realise they say it's almost as though it were all one big sonnet, like it's all just one poem with a consistent watermark. If you like to count syllables and scan feet that's up to you - I heard it's been called a 'cathedral of verse' or some twaddle - what I find is some bits just crack me up, others just seem wise, and then there's the weird bits, the sweet bits, the deep, and so on. It also has the ones I love where you're up close and just feel stark naked; it's all there, somehow it feels raw, intimate and true. Whatever I think of, it's already there with a model. Every time I go back there's something new, some complete surprise. Did I have a bookshelf before XV Poems was on it? Read it in the park. Read it for a lark. Read it in the dark." www.xvpoe.ms
