Book of abstracts from the 11th Coffee Break Conference held at Sapienza University of Rome and Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna in December 2021. The main theme of the 11th Coffee Break Conference is "Arranged marriages between disciplines". The title is self-explanatory: each panel examines an aspect of Asian cultural and intellectual history by adopting theperspective of two or more disciplines. In some cases, the success of the marriage might not be immediately evident. Yet, theorganizers believe that such engagements can be fruitful: by prompting speakers to think in broader terms, theconference aims to foster intellectual exchange and promote cross-fertilization between different academic fields. Disciplines involved in the debate are philology, linguistics, religious studies, anthropology, art history, philosophy, gender studies and literary studies.
