It comes from a pattern between thoughts.
A tingling in the fingertips.
A current running up the spine
and into the heart. A pulsing rhythm
sending trailers through beckoning hands.
An aspen tree flutters in response.
Yellow leaves dance in the sun.
We need this energy
to connect, to survive.
To be an artist is to ride the obstacle of thought
until it dissolves into an allowing.
Once the energy begins to move,
there's no stopping it. Dawn becomes twilight.
Washes of ultramarine, naphthol crimson,
cadmium yellow evolve into a movement-filled sky.
Let it be, I whisper when the trance is over.
There are no teachings in this process.
To be an artist is to disappear."
