Encouragement and Inspiration

Kent Ira Groff, while using swimming as the primary methaphor, has given the reader multiple metaphors for thinking differently about writing. Through the four stages of swimming, he presents the reader with a new way to understand lectio divina. One insight for me was his idea that "writing exposes your thoughts and . . . leads you to know your inner self." The exercises he provides are as varied as the multiple intelligences approach and understanding he includes. Whether you are an aspiring writer or have enjoyed writing to learn, Groff has something for you in this book. Further, he helps the reader see writing as a spiritual practice.

Enthusiastic Recommendation

Groff shares his experience to inspire and inform the reader. The writing exercises are concrete and original. I find that inviting God into the creative process keeps me honest. Having a writing companion in your journey helps combat the isolation a writer can feel while working. Groff is a compassionate coach. This book is easily read, but doing the work will challenge any thoughtful writer. The author tells us: "writing has the potential of calling forth the spiritual dimension that can unlock the treasure of your life's purpose." Who wouldn't want that opportunity? Don't miss it!

Writing Tides and me

Hello I am going to write a short review of the book that I purchased from you in that you asked me to do so. I am an freelance writer in Longmont, Colorado and a Christian who believes that strong christian writing has a place in our society. I am currently working on church history, evangelism and the politics of church and state. I formerly taught United States Government on the high school level and my religion was taught me by my Southern Baptist father during my formative years. This book has taught me much about the organization of writing. he also mentions several resource items that I have in my possession. Since the author lives in Denver, I would very much like to meet him to discuss writing. Harold G. "Bill" Sears
