long_summary: Travel has been a large part of my life.I went to University of California, Berkeley. There, I met a man named Lou, an older student. He was great fun and had been many places. We talked a lot about fascinating places in the world. I loved to listen to a popular song, "Faraway Places with Strange Sounding names," and I was always intrigued with place names like Chichen Itza and Machu Picchu. Lou was intrigued with the sea and islands. One day, in the hills of Berkeley, Lou said, "I just heard a neat song. It could be our song. It'll be on the radio, soon." He was right, I thought it wonderful: "I'm Going to Get You on a Slow Boat to China." The "Slow boat" turned up about seven years later, the famous Matson ship, The Lurline. It sailed from San Francisco to Hawaii. That was exciting, no matter that it didn't go to China. We did get to China forty years later, but by airplane. Then after fifty years, we got to China by boat, to the port that serves Beijing. Lou, of course, found the perfect cruise.
