Writing Freedom From Within The Pen

After losing nearly everything as a result of the woman I loved betraying me, I had to figure out how I could rebuild my life. Having my possessions stolen and my heart destroyed, it was difficult to see a path for myself. All I knew was that I had to escape this dysfunctional spiral. The illicit lifestyle that landed me where I was - was entirely out of the question. No more slangin'. No more pimpin'. I had to dead the pill poppin' that had me outside my mind. I had to give up my desperate attempts to escape from reality. I didn't finish college; I didn't have any trade or technical skills. Stripped to my bare bones and skin, I realized all that remained was a flickering passion. Writing has always been a spark of warmth in my cold life. ----- Within this collection of featured poems, I allow readers into my life as an incarcerated man.
