I'd like to invite you to take a peek
into my journey from a teenager to my roaring thirties.
Most of the following poetry is a
look into my life at different stages,
but some are my thoughts and feelings on others'
lives and even daydreams. You may find that
I often contradict myself in the following work,
but please remember I was as young as 15 or 16
writing some of these poems and as old as 35 in others.
My thoughts and feelings change just as rapidly today.
I believe the good and bad in my
life shaped me into exactly who
I am supposed to be. I may have
taken the long road getting here
but like Celie in The Color Purple said,
"I'm poor, black, I might even
be ugly, but DEAR GOD, I'M HERE. I'M HERE!
