This violent and emotional tale is set in a completely fictional world inspired in part by the landscape of Australia's tropical eastern coast and the perilous maritime history of the North Atlantic in the 18th century. While its cast of bruised characters navigate the region's volatile politics-and relationships with its original inhabitants-they must also confront the debilitating effects of grief, as one-by-one they experience great loss. Nevertheless, the pace never slows, and Wreck's Wake hurtles its cast towards an ending that is both unexpected and exciting.
