Book Overview

Being raised by her grandmother was the best thing that could happen to Saleema. After being abandoned by her mother for a man, Saleema grew to solely depend on her grandmother's love and advice to carry her through life's journey. But, growing up in a poverty-stricken area, even with Nana's help, is hard. Following a small but memorable criminal offense, Saleema is left to serve her sentence through community service where she crosses paths with Kemichael "ATL" Flint, a luxury car dealership owner who is instantly taken with her nonchalant attitude and rude demeanor. He finds out everything he can about Saleema, which only deepens his interest.

Instead of listening to Nana about men with fast money and controlling tendencies, something Saleema cannot see, she rushes into a relationship with Kemichael, not knowing underneath his dress clothes and expensive cologne lies a true monster. However, she's too far into the relationship to back out, and she's given birth to his son, Kemichael Junior. After a string of violent outbursts and controlling episodes, Saleema has had enough. She flees her upscale Philadelphia home in hopes of returning to Nana, but the doors she calls her forever home are now closed to her, and Saleema is on the run.

While fighting to save her and her son's life, she has a chance encounter with Hayden "Haymaker" Warm, the eldest of the Warm Mafia. He's in control, has B.D.E., and wants everything in its place. Saleema's vibe tells him she's a fish out of water, and he's captivated by the lengths she'll go to protect her son. Hayden wants to protect her, save her, if he can, but he's got his own family issues to worry about.

His younger brother Maze is reckless, and as always, it's up to Hayden to save the day. However, saving his brother could come at a cost to Saleema when her past comes rushing toward her and Hayden's whirlwind romance.
Saleema has fought hard to escape her past, and Hayden desperately wants to rescue her, but they're both wrapped up in trouble that could tear them both apart, and unfortunately away from one another.
