Giant ten-mile long Space Worms invade Earth, devouring buildings, cars, trees,humans--everything!--in their path, Zack, Jolie, along with teen friends, a pair of teachers, and some neighbors--escape by slipping inside a monster Worm. As they explore their new environment, slithering through living walls, while trying not to anger the Worm's internal defenses, they encounter pools of biomass-dissolving acids, poisonous plants, and out-of-this-world creatures. Every day is a risky experiment with life-and-death consequences as they search for water, build shelters, search for food, and dodge becoming dinner for a black dragon or a T-rex. Attending proms and lounging on lazy days at the pond are replaced by enduring interstellar travel and negotiating with alien cultures. As the Earth Worm Tribe fights for the survival of humanity, they grow closer, longing to create home and family.
