After hearing his request, the library director disappeared into the building's archives and returned carrying a worn and frayed volume bearing the distinctive insignia of the 103d Infantry Division-a green cactus against a blue field and yellow sky.
The book was Report After Action: The Story of the 103d Infantry Division, originally produced after the war by newspaper reporters and 103d Division members Ralph Mueller and Jerry Turk.
