Dear Fellow Readers & Compagnons de Route: The mission of VIET SPACE is to set up an open forum inviting responsible adults to share their knowledge & experiences with young and following generations. The young and foreign culture participants forming VIET SPACE will have the opportunities to question, remake, or enhance shared information and values herein collected. The purpose of VIET SPACE is to select the best of each social capital, past and foreign, its ethical values, and creative efforts to help VIET SPACE participants fulfill their symbiotic culture of equity, peace, freedom, progress, and human dignity. Knowledge, sensitivity, and creativity will reduce gaps between generations and prejudices, and on the other hand, interconnect energy to recreate a new humanistic world concept. Folk art is predominantly functional or utilitarian visual art created by hand (or with limited mechanical facilities) for use by the maker or a small circumscribed group and containing an element of retention--the prolonged survival of tradition. Folk art is the creative expression of the human struggle toward civilization within a particular environment through the production of useful but aesthetic buildings and objects. In the broadest sense, folk art refers to the art of the people, as distinguished from the elite or professional product that constitutes the mainstream of art in highly developed societies. Folk art may be considered as the art created among groups that exist within the framework of a developed society but, for geographic or cultural reasons, largely produce distinctive styles and objects for local needs and tastes. The output of such art represents a unique complex of realistic impulses and traditional practices subjected both to sophisticated influences and to local developments. Aside from aesthetic considerations, the concept of folk art is particularly concerning the relationship between art and culture. VIET SPACE
