In recent years, the pressure to work and perform within companies has increased significantly, leading to a steady rise in staff absenteeism and sick leave. Employees are increasingly feeling overwhelmed and are only managing to perform their duties to a moderate standard. It is therefore becoming increasingly necessary to address these rising demands and high levels of stress, and to support employees through workplace incentive schemes and workplace health promotion. This bachelor's thesis examines the long-term enhancement of employee motivation through workplace incentive schemes and workplace health promotion (WHP). It investigates whether there is a correlation between incentive schemes and WHP, and how the two approaches can be integrated. Based on a comprehensive literature review, sources from the university libraries of FH Joanneum and Knittelfeld Municipal Library were utilised. Resources from online databases were also used. The theoretical foundations and studies demonstrate that success can be achieved in terms of the long-term increase in employee motivation.
