This study is prompted by the shift in the age structure of the workforce and the high levels of mental and physical strain associated with working in the hospitality industry. This paper sets out measures designed to safeguard the health and performance of staff, particularly older employees in the hospitality sector, and thereby maintain productivity. The hospitality industry was chosen as the sector of focus because there is a research gap in the field of occupational health management. To date, few to no health-promoting measures have been implemented in the relevant establishments. As musculoskeletal disorders currently account for the largest proportion of sickness-related absences and there is also a high risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders in the hospitality sector, this type of illness is highly relevant to businesses in the sector. The aim is to reduce physical and psychological stress at work through the development of environmental and behavioural measures.
