Leviticus 23:2, 14 - "These are the appointed festivals of the LORD that you shall proclaim as holy convocations, my appointed festivals...it is a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your settlements." God appointed these days from the very beginning. When He said let there be light, He used this light as a sign of His appointed times. These appointed times are the Holy Days people have remembered and celebrated for over 4,000 years. In this book, Brent Kern takes a deeper look at how and why these days are so important to Christians today. These days were not just set aside for the Jewish people but were for all God's people - every tribe, every tongue, and every nation. This book contains descriptions of each Holy Day. Each day has a Historical, Christological, and Prophetic meaning. These meanings are described in a way to show the reader how it fits into our lives in the twenty-first century. Understanding the different aspects of these days is essential for understanding how they fit into God's plan for each one of us. Included in the Appendix is an entire year broken down by each of the annual Holy Days and the weekly Sabbaths. Along with this calendar is a lectionary. The lectionary is intended to encourage congregations to join together to read large portions of scripture throughout the course of the year. It also sets aside the importance of each Holy Day and the season in which it resides. The Liturgical Calendar and Lectionary are designed to work together to help push a community forward in their walk to better serve God. Finally, this book was written as a requirement to fulfill the Master's of Theological Studies degree at Perkins School of Theology. It is the hope of the author that this project will continue to grow so that Christians who choose to remember God's Holy Days will have a source to help in their annual planning and execution of worship.
