This book is not a training manual for safety at sea, it is not a "how to" book on sailing. It doesn't tell you about navigation, what knots to tie, rules of the road, weather, burgees and the rest.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Jennifer Errico has done an absolutely excellent job of presenting the good, bad and ugly related to working on yachts. Her 18 years of experience is obvious and she shares many details that would take years to pick-up on your own. The writing style is straight forward and she often displays her dry British humor. If you are interested in working on yachts or already in the business, I would highly recommend this book. It will also be a very good reference book while on yacht job(s). It is a great read!!
Very As a Matter of Fact kind of Book

I flipped through this book and noticed that it wasn't written with as much excitement as Julie Perry's Book The Insiders Guide to Becoming a Yacht Stewardess. Still a good read however can disinterest you if you think life on a yacht is going to be easy. I think if Jennifer Errico has been a stew for more than 8 years she's in the business because she loves it! You take the good with the bad. Several good information addresses and phone numbers very up to date and a future stews travel companion.
Great source of information

It took me along time to find a decent book covering the yachting industry and how to get a foot on the Ladder. Jennifer Errico spent 10 years in the business so knows many of the ins and outs. This book will tell you how to get started, what to expect from the job, where to find work and how much you can expect to earn at the various levels. In addition, in the appendices you will find a huge list of relevant websites to further your search. What I particularly enjoyed was that the subject (working on yachts) is treated as a profession rather than a glorified gap year experience. With a decent grounding, yachtsmen (and women)can go on to acieve a very decent career along with some very tasty financial rewards. All in all a very concise and usefull reference.
