Working on Cruise Ships is a well written book on working and living onboard of a cruise ship. However there are only few pages on how to deal with cover letter, resume and interview. That's why if this is important for you consider- Cruise Ship Job in 14 Days, which is entirely focused on these 3 topics. The best advice I can give you is to ask yourself what actually you are looking for. Information about what is to work and live onboard, how to apply and get a cruise ship job or both? In the first case a cheaper option is Working on Cruise Ships. In the second and also for the first is definitely Cruise Ship Job in 14 Days. In the third is to buy both matching books.
Describes very well the life and work onboard

This is the best book on what is to live and work on a cruise ship. It contains excellent personal stories of people who have worked there and it seems that the author has asked them specific questions because each story consist of several important answers. In "How to get a job with a Cruise line and travel around the world" there are also and actually more such stories, although they are usually defocused and often become autobiographical. Of course, they reveal information, which in a more guided manner will be omitted. That's why it is also a very good book about the life and work aboard. Important: Both books contain only few pages with "tips" on how to write a cover letter and resume. So if this is what you are looking for the only book on the market, which is entirely focused on writing an attention-grabbing application and acing an interview is Cruise Ship Job in 14 Days.
Highly Recommeded

I've been looking for a book that tells you how it really is working on a cruise ship not just how to get the job. Written by an author who has been working on cruise ships for over a decade, I found her insights to be just what I've been looking for sprinkled with just the right about of humour to add the smiles while your reading. She addresses and dispels the myths and notions that many assume come with working on a cruise ship. In addition to telling you what it's like working on a cruise, she also tells you how to get a job on a ship. I've already mailed out my applications! Read this book if you want to know the reality of working on a cruise ship. I highly recommend it.

Sandra Bow has done a wonderful job on this book. I was already eyeing it last year, before it was released. It hasn't disappointed me. Sandra has written in depth about working on a cruise ship. She lists 200 jobs, and goes in depth on a number of the mainstream jobs (i.e. hotel and restaurant staff, photographer, musician, etc.). She has many informative exerpts written by people who have worked in all types of cruise jobs, ranging from a Deck Officer to a Fitness Instructor. She also lists information about 46 cruise lines, and highlights 233 ships. She tells when they were first launched, how many people they accomodate, and what the pre-dominant nationality of the officers is. If you're thinking about getting a job on a cruise ship, I definately recommend you read this book. It is very informative, and was written in an excellent manner.
