Book Overview

The Workaholics Anonymous (WA) Book of Recovery is similar in style to that of the Alcoholics
Anonymous "Big Book." It includes WA members' stories of experience, strength and hope, 20
questions to assess the traits of workaholism, a format and instructions for WA meetings, and a review of the Twelve Steps of WA. This essential book on work addiction recovery is written by WA
members to carry the message of hope to anyone interested in learning about this devastating
addiction, and to workaholics who still suffer.

This book is priceless!

I can't say enough about what this book has done for me. In the last year I have read the book's stories, tips and instructions on how to work the 12 step spiritual program in my work addiction. I have never been happier and more at peace in my life. The book provides fantastic information to understand the addiction and excellent tips on how to find and keep a balance in life with work and play in a culture that actively encourages and rewards over working. I recommend this book to anyone who struggles with workaholism.

The Book of Recovery

This is an excellent book, and the only book, that describes the Workaholics Anonymous program. It's a great source of information about this compulsive behavior, with stories by people who are living with it and how they have managed to find alternative ways of living. This is a practical guide on how to find serenity and balance in a society that has many temptations toward this disease. I have found it a useful part of my life on a daily basis. anonymous

The first comprehensive book about recovery from workaholism actually written by workaholics!

I love the book. It is a nice combination of Step focus as well as many stories from members of the fellowship of W.A. with valuable direction for such things as sponsorship and/or starting a meeting of fellow workaholics. There are special sections with many famous and also anonymous quotes/slogans that I especially enjoy such as "Don't just do something - Sit there." or how about Thoreau's quote "Live your life with broad margins." or "Everything can wait but love." There are many fine books now on this disease but this one is the only one I know of (with the possible exception of a separate German organization of workaholics that use the 12 Steps and do have literature in German) authored by actual 12 Step members and as such it is a unique perspective and offers a kind of help that only those who have acknowledged both the illness and the Twelve Steps as their solution can give. Definitely worth checking out.
