Work With the Wounds: Helping and Healing Others Through Our Pain

Each one of us is living with wounds that we have encountered in life - divorce, rejection, miscarriage, abuse, poverty, physical disability, mental health, etc. These are wounds that show up in what we consider to be the most inopportune times. While we go through such trials and tribulations, a wound results - a deep seated scar remains and often reminds us of what we endured and ultimately survived. Rather than allowing the punishment, the disappointment, the pain, etc. to leave us for dead, God uses those wounds as a catalyst to build us back up and in doing so we are able to build others who are living through the same thing or something similar. Our stories are reminders to never despise what we endured. God uses our situations. God uses our pain. God uses our rejection and disobedience. God uses everything we survived to shift our perspective so that we can see how our wounds are avenues for others to be helped and healed. It hurt, but it didn't kill us. We were deeply wounded, but not disfigured as a result. We get wounded, but not all wounds end in our death (emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or financially), but the wounds are tokens that we made it with God as our Help.

Take a journey through the pages of personal wounds that were intended to take us out, but only slowed us down temporarily. Each story is an echo of Isaiah 54:17 which declares, "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord" (KJV).
