"Work Like Sixty and Advertise..." recalls the history of a small sign company in Northern Indiana. Started around 1908 by German immigrant August J. (Gust) Krueger, Krueger Sign Co. served the Michigan City, Indiana area for over fifty years. Skilled with a paint brush, Gust was not only an artist with a paint brush, but also a master of the technique of gold and silver leaf lettering. Joined by his son, Louie, who was a craftsman in the creation of neon signs, in 1937, the pair provided their customers with quality products as well as the experience and integrity of small businessmen of the day. Both men photographed the signs they created and saved these photographs are a record of their craftsmanship, artisry and a reminder of days gone by.
