Second Book is more than just filler

Often the second of a series is just filler between the first book as the stage setting, and the final book as the conclusion. Word of Traitors is a great follow up to Doom of Kings. It is somewhat standalone, in that it does have its own conflict and resolution. Also, the author does a good job of recalling events from the previous book. If you read the first, read the second. The writing is above most world based books and the characters are well developed. I just finished reading all three and am completely satisfied. I am rating it top honors as this series is better than most on the market. There are certainly others that are better, but in this genre and market, Don Bassingthwaite deserves top honors. Read it for the goblin culture, read it for the characters, or read it for a great romp in the world of Eberron.

Never Stops to get Interesting

The story never never stops ot get interesting. Just when you think you have a little bit of a break in the action to catch your breath bam something else comes up. That is what I do like in a story.

Awesome, Incredible, Excellent

I couldn't decide on what words to use to describe the book so instead I settled to include all three; awesome, incredible, excellent. In the previous series, The Dragon Below, learning the words and phrases from the Shadow Marches and the Shifter race added at fantastic element to the book. In this series I thoroughly enjoyed the description of goblin culture. Understanding the 'dar' from the world of Eberron kept me turning the pages as much as wanting to know what happened next. The characters are vivid and their story a joy to read. I highly recommend it. Can't wait for book 3 - June won't come soon enough.
