A book to keep coming back to.

This book is remarkable in that it shows you how to sketch and paint your subject. It seems daunting, if you dont draw/ are uncomfortable with drawing, at first. Its actually really great to practice finding the shapes in your subject and the shapes inform your paintings. This book is fantastic on many levels and is well written and thought out. Drawing the Natural World as you explore!

I am fascinated by people who take time to draw pictures in a sketchbook as they travel around. Sketchbook journaling is becoming more and more popular right now. Rosalie started this interesting pastime due to a doctor telling her to try going for a walk when her chronic migraines hit. . . She started drawing plants, animals, and insects while on her walks. . . She starts out with a discussion of materials she carries with her. She discusses ink and watercolor wash and has 10 pictures to learn from.. . Then she does ten items with just watercolor. . . She shows the original photo, her line drawing, and walks you through painting each project. She also gives a little information about the item in focus. I am learning a lot from this book.
