Introduction

The bible scriptures are a wonderful resource that enable us to draw near to God through his ever inspiring word. The Holy Spirit lives in every 'born again' Christian, therefore, we can instantly turn to Jesus, knowing we are in his presence and he hears us.

Reading the bible daily reinforces our understanding from verses that we will begin to recognise, learn, and eventually know well; always mindful of the Lord Jesus, we receive every teaching into our minds and hearts. Regularly being in God's presence and immersing ourselves with his word, we are inspired, blessed, comforted, strengthened, informed, daily filled and sanctified by the Holy Spirit, healed, enabled, blessed with God's wisdom love and peace, inspired to live for Jesus, stimulated to thoughtful prayer, and more.

When reading the bible, God speaks to us through the words spoken by Jesus, the Prophets, Apostles, and scripture generally, all of which he inspired directly. Examples of how God intervened in the lives of his people serve to teach and guide us. Scripture provides the wisdom and knowledge that we need to know for our lives, and to fellowship with the Lord who encourages, instructs, guides and lifts us up, reinforcing our relationship.

Regular bible reading is a powerful tool which God uses to renew our minds, that is, the way we think and subsequently behave. God clothes us with his Holiness through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit who harnesses scripture to guide and lead us.

It is encouraging to know that when reading this book, the words of many wonderful and powerful scriptures will draw us closer to our saviour Jesus Christ. Thus, our daily bible reading is something we enthusiastically look forward to, its reward never exhausted.
