Human rights should be applicable to everyone, women, men and children irrespective of caste, creed, religion and region. However, women around the globe are often denied of their basic rights, which are a part of everyday life such as freedom of movement, access to education, participation in decision-making process and public sphere etc. There are many barriers to equality between the sexes. Important factors include gender stereotyping, violence against women, social and cultural attitudes, discriminative laws and practices. Women throughout the world live in constant fear and conditions of deprivation. Violations of women's rights are systematic, they are attacked and raped, sexually harassed, discriminated etc. This book is an attempt to introduce position of India with regards to human rights of women.
