A quirky, unusual murder mystery

Reviewed by Paige Lovitt for Reader Views (4/09) "Woman into Wolf" is one of the most unusual mysteries that I have ever read. Alysse Aallyn created it by combining some actual events from real crimes into a fictional mystery. Intrigued by a discussion with a police detective, the main character, Persey, challenges herself into trying to discover where the bodies of some murder victims might have been left. Persey bites off more than she can chew when she discovers crime scenes of women that have been brutally murdered. The suspense hits closer to home when one of the victims is the estranged wife of the best friend of her husband. Circumstances cause Persey to become very suspicious about who the real killer might be. She finds herself delving into an old secret that surrounds husband's family. She also finds herself pulling away from her husband and his perverted demands. She becomes closer to the detective who is handling the case. Persey's character begins to evolve from being a kept trophy wife to a woman of strength and guile. Personally, I loved reading "Woman into Wolf" by Alysse Aallyn; the quirkiness of the story and the eccentricities of the characters make it an intriguing book to read. Some of these people are really twisted and others are really deluded. Persey's personal reflections of the events that she is experiencing are extremely well written. Whatever emotions she was feeling, I was feeling them right alongside her. The book kept me on the edge of my seat right through the end. As a matter of fact, the author created a perfect ending to this quirky story. I highly recommend this novel to fans of crime mysteries that also enjoy some extra spice in their stories.
