“From ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties”

The director is James Watkins, if that makes any difference. This presentation is adapted into a screenplay by Jane Goldman. The story is from Susan Hill's novel of the same name. The music (if you can call it that) is scored by Marco Beltrami. The cinematography is by Tim Maurice-Jones. (Someone tell him what a light switch is.) Lots of sluggish background noise. Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) is sent on a mission to a foreign village (The Causeway to Osea Island, Maldon, E-s-s-e-x, England). Never mind that it is the same scene from Dracula when they toss John Harker to the vamps. The screenwriter was thinking more of the Apocalypse Now mission. He is to wrap up the paperwork of a deceased client of the firm. Little did he know that he was going to suffer (along with us) a series of “things that go bump in the night” and Lots of sluggish background noise. The native rabble at least did not carry torches and hunt him down. Soon he takes the threat personally. In association with Hammer Films, who would have guessed? “Good Lord deliver us” from this film.
