I'm a lifelong Star Trek fan, from its original incarnation through all the variations that have followed, and it is with great amusement that I observe today's fanboys griping about the overt social consciousness of the most recent ones.

"When did Star Trek get so Woke?" they complain - to the endless amusement of first-generation fans like myself. Trek has always been woke.

That's what attracted me to it. Its themes included diversity, equality, a commitment to truth, the eschewing of prejudice and bigotry - themes that I have taken deeply to heart.
