This story aims to teach wisdom through the action of its characters. -- Heather, a young healer, goes to the White Witch to learn healing magic. On the way she meets three other seekers: a warrior prince, a beautiful but unscrupulous merchant; and a stage magician. But the Witch refuses to teach any of them unless they can see with Wizard's Eyes. To help them learn this mysterious skill she sends them on a quest to bring back "that which is worth more than good karma." Through the many perils of the journey Heather (and the reader) learn what causes karma and why good karma is so important. Heather (and the reader) also learn by watching her three companions. She sees that violence calls more violence and makes problems worse; that giving brings more happiness and satisfaction than getting; and that living behind a false front causes endless loneliness. -- Wisdom is the knowledge of how to live a happy, harmonious and satisfying life. And the best way to pass this knowledge along, especially to young folks, is with a rattling good adventure story.
