Witnesses Unto Me, the sequel to The Iniquity of Us All, opens after the crucifixion of Jesus with the sorrowing disciples, His family, and followers. After the Resurrection, Jesus appears to the disciples and to others individually to commission them for the work he has called them to do. He gives personal messages to his family and closest friends, prompting his brother James to eventually move to Jerusalem. Jesus's instruction to his disciples to attend the funeral/wake for Judas brings protests. Jesus's appearances solidify his followers' belief in the resurrection and deepens their commitment to their Messiah. After Jesus's ascension they continue their ministry in the Temple portico, healing and teaching. The Holy Spirit's arrival at Pentecost fills the believers with holy power. Miraculous healings agitate the Jewish leaders, who had hoped Jesus's crucifixion would end the movement. Imprisonments follow. Philip travels to Samaria to preach and heal. Peter and John join him later. From there Philip travels on to Gaza to witness to an Ethiopian official. The book follows the lives of Herod Antipas, Agrippa, and other descendants of King Herod, tracing how their rule affect Jews and Jesus's followers. Pilate, the Roman Procurator of Judea and Galilee, continues to face conflicts with the Jewish leaders. Jesus's antagonist Samson and his cousin Saul continue to harass and persecute Jesus's followers, especially after Samson's parents' tragic death. Stephen is stoned for his faith, becoming the first martyr. Saul obtains documents to arrest believers and set off for Damascus. Along the road Jesus reveals himself to Saul in a vision. Saul is forever changed, and his ministry develops in the sequel, A Chosen Vessel.
