The fear comes from what lurks within the shadows of the darkness and is visible at times. What lurks there is foreboding and seen as perilous. Of all the creatures that are believed to dwell in the darkness, the most captivating, mysterious, and precarious living entity is Lilith. Lilith is many things. Most know about her through Jewish Folklore as Adam's first wife and as a demonic figure who seduces men in their sleep as a Succubus as well as a murderer of infants. She is shrouded in mystery, and the stories of who she is, and what she is, are many and diverse. Her attributes range from what is seen as light and what is seen as dark. She is feared, adored, maligned, and worshiped. She is a symbol of equality, non-conformity, sexuality, taboo, strength, rebellion, independence, and individuality, and independence. To borrow the words Of Winston Churchill, she is "a riddle wrapped in an enigma." Her dark side summons our shadow side. The many legends that surround her, intrigues and seduces those who feel a connection to her, and who are inspired by her. We are drawn to her for many reasons. Why does her allure inspire so much awe and fear in so many and in so many ways? Oscar Wilde may have inadvertently nailed it best when he wrote in his book "The Picture of Dorian Gray" "You will always be fond of me. I represent to you all the sins you never had the courage to commit." Lilith ignites within us our hidden desires, awakens our true passions, provokes our deepest fears, and empowers what is seen as weakness and uses it for strength, revenge, justice, protection, freedom, and even enjoyment. She entices us to give in to our hedonistic side, and chase what we long for, and encourages us to rise above the restraints we find ourselves in and take what is seen as insignificant, and let it be our strength. Lilith empowers us to not settle but to actively search out, in order to obtain, what our hearts crave and deserve. Her magnetism demands a response, and she does receive that response in one way or another. Regardless of whom you believe she is or represents, she is intriguing to no end. Lilith takes on many forms and roles within different classic and historical texts. Who she is to you depends on how you perceive her and how she may appear to you. This book will be about focusing on how you can begin building a relationship with Lilith, working with her, and how she can help in Shadow work."
