With This Ring I Journey

Quilt: To stitch designs through layers of cloth, to fasten between two pieces of material, to stitch or sew in layers with padding in between. Also something practical made beautiful. And useful. And symbolic. We associate quilts with warmth, beauty, family, and home. A quilt can also stand for a personal journey, a celebration, and the vows one makes to oneself. Upon her grandmother's death, Lorie Kleiner Eckert inherited her grandfather's ring. Recently separated herself, she slipped her grandfather's ring on and slipped off her own wedding band. Feeling that some sort of vows were appropriate, she decided to make vows to herself-to become a quilt lecturer and teacher, to trust her inner voice, and love herself. The resulting project is a series of "quilts with words" that symbolizes her journey to self-acceptance and love, a message she has now taken on lecture tours. Each quilt represents a stage in her realization and transformation; each part of the quilt symbolizes an element in her life. As you turn the pages, you will not only get a sense of the personal journey undertaken here, but of the potential steps we all could take to become stronger, more creative individuals. Sayings like "Soar," "Paddle Your Own Canoe" and "Bloom" are as inspirational as the brilliant swirls of colors that surround and echo them. Many of the designs are built on traditional quilt patterns but contain striking twists-unexpected colors, shapes, the lack of borders in important spots. It will no doubt be a book that you thumb through over and over, a true feast for the eyes and soul.
Essential reading for every salesperson, or for those who are thinking about entering this rewarding profession, Selling will bring new insight and will ensure a brighter future for anyone who wants to succeed in sales.

Brilliant Work of Art

The quilts are beautiful, the words are inspirational, and the stories are touching. I adore this book. I come back to it again and again. I cannot wait for Ms. Eckert's third book to be published.
