Then, instead of leaving me to infer the time from the arbitrary symbolism of three strokes on a bell, the same voice which had before electrified me informed me, in tones which would have lent a charm to the driest of statistical details, what the hour was. I had never before been impressed with any particular interest attaching to the hour of three in the morning, but as I heard it announced in those low, rich, thrilling contralto tones, it appeared fairly to coruscate with previously latent suggestions of romance aud poetry, which, if somewhat vague, were very pleasing. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Exorbitant price for a book available for free from Gutenburg

The story is only 18 pages in this print-to-order format with 28 pages following completelly blank. The book should have been a couple of dollars, not $18. I shall have to be careful about ordering such books from now on. Some people take advantage of the rarity of a volume to gouge the buyer. I do not recommend buying books from Kessinger's Rare Reprints unless they are absolutely not available anywhere else, and only for a reasonable price, of which this was not.
