WIT AND WISDOM This will not be exactly a Mark Twain novel, but this story may be considered by some to be close to a Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn adventure on the Mississippi. The only difference is that the Southern Mill Village is near the South Fork River. But the stories are like Tom or Huck because human nature is the same for them as it was for us. This can also be looked at as a Horace Greeley story of "Go West Young Man, Go West", a rags to riches story. This story illustrates the influence of growing up in a southern mill village, with the story beginning in 1947 when Pete was born. The goal here is to describe how everyone who was part of this story contributed to Pete's development of wit and wisdom over his life time.
