If he crosses that county line looking for her, so help me...
I will rain down the fires of Hell if he ever tries to touch her again. There is nothing I wouldn't do to protect her, to save her. This is my county, these are my people, it's my duty to ensure no harm comes to any of them.
I can still see that fat lip, the death grip on the coffee cup, the tight smile she tried to pass off as being normal. I didn't know it then, but she was more than a stranger passing through...she was brought here for a reason.
She's scared. She says she doesn't know what trust looks like, that she's never known real love. How is this possible? Am I man enough to show her? Can I love her the way she deserves to be loved? I don't know, but I am willing to spend the rest of my life showing her or die trying.
