For decades, Sami has kept the key to the geniean and human races hidden. She is used to a life of independence, frequently on the move and constantly changing her identity in order to protect others. She finds herself in the Southern California beach city of San Diego and decides to attend Black Canyon High School where she intends to stay in the shadows and maintain her anonymity... and her true nature. But then Nate bumps his way into her life, or rather, she bumps into his, and her stuttering and fluttering heart battles with the voice of reason in her mind not to get to close to a human. Sami has never felt so unsure, so torn, so... awkward. She attempts to steel her heart against the swirl of emotions that have staked claim within her, but that is difficult to do when Nate accepts who she is with such compassion and unbridled curiosity. Together, Sami and Nate fight to protect genies and humanity against demons by using the one thing in Sami's power, the one thing demons can't seem to get ahold of: the Hasah.
