Winning the Race: Dr. Bebe Patten : Her Life and Ministry

Winning the Race traces the life and ministry of Dr. Bebe Patten. Because of her undeniable faith in her calling from an early age, Dr. Patten refused to stand on the sidelines and watch her vision vanish. Arriving in Oakland, California, in 1944, little did she know that her life would change...her ministry would never be the same, and neither would Oakland, California. Many believe this 19-week revival, together with the extended revival (1944-50), constituted Oakland's most influential spiritual experience ever. It would lay the foundation for Dr. Patten's work as evangelist, teacher, pastor, editor, and founder/director of the institutions born out of it.

Read about the life and ministries of Dr. Bebe Patten!

"Winning the Race" is an inspirational biography written by Dr. Glenn Kunkel on the life of Dr. Bebe Patten is an inspiration to many. She can be compared to various persons in the Bible, but I would best compare her to Paul because of the extremely difficult trials she has overcome. For example, her tent was burned down during one of her great tent revivals, (which always attracted thousands of people at a time), as she evangelized in the deep south. She also faced the rejection of her family when she went to Bible college following God's call to the ministry and so much more she had to overcome. Dr. Patten is a rock in the Christian faith. I invite all to read this book and be blessed by her fearless endeavors in the Lord and her passion for God. Dr. Patten has always loved Isreal and the Jewish people. One of her numerous achievments includes a non- Jewish chair with the Bar Ilan University in Israel. Dr. Patten is know worldwide. She founded the Patten Academy, Patten College, and the Christian Cathedral all located in Oakland, California. Follow her life from her olympic swimming days as a young Bebe Harrison, to her conversion experience, to seminary, to preaching in tent revivals as an evangelist. Dr. Patten is also an achieved song writer, musician, mother, teacher, friend, counselor and shepherdess to her sheep. She holds two doctorate degrees a Ph.D and a D.D. This book is amazing! Everyone should read it!

Admirable People--How Do They Get That Way!

While satisfyingly inspirational for a person of faith, the book also speaks broadly to the longing, and universal quest for meaning. This restropective, personal examination of a life--the crossroads approached, the decisions taken, the path less travelled chosen--provides a satisfying sense of triumph, of consummate meaning. Not only interesting as a dramatic story, but take-away inspiration for real-life courage.
