Wonderful book........spectacular story......

This book was purchased for my 12 year old daughter, but before giving it to her, I decided to read it. It is written in such a fashion that it kept my mind intrigued with every page. I love the way it is told through the mind of a child, but with such passion and depth that an adult can appreciate it. As I neared the end of the book, I simply could not put it down! I look forward to hearing my daughters' comments now that she has started reading it. I will definitely buy the next book published.

Best summer read yet! Can't wait for the sequel!

Almost as soon as I turned the first page, I was caught up in the tumultuous life of Jackie Randall. This was a book I just couldn't put down! The book moves quickly, as discovery after discovery is made, yet manages to develop each distinct character completely. I was so thoroughly impressed with the way Ms. Hammond writes--this book has a well-balanced mix of suspense and sensibility, with Christian values and principles woven throughout. How refreshing to read a story without sappy lines and predictable plots! At some points, I was actually on the edge of my seat! The heroine, Jackie, especially appealed to me, with her intense imagination and enthralling sense of poetry in nature, but Montgomery increasingly grew on me as the story progressed, as more details of his grief and struggles in life were revealed. I have just learned there is a sequel (and possibly more in a series) in the making, and I hope Montgomery is developed even more.Shockingly enough, this book is listed as appropriate for ages 9-12. Although children that young would be able to appreciate this book, I believe all ages can enjoy this book. Jackie's character transcends maturity levels and the experiences she goes through can touch everyone. It's amazing how well the reader can relate to almost every encounter Jackie faces. I'm looking forward to reading more of her adventures. There is plenty of room for growth for Jackie and many possibilities in her future. Towards the end of the book, I could see her being influenced by her peers more and the presence of her father will certainly be a factor--will be interesting to her mature and grow.I'm full of praises for this book! A good read for all ages!
