Superior Reference

This is a great book for professional system administrators. I could easily toss out a half dozen other reference books on UNIX and NT because of the complete and accurate info in this book. Almost 800 pages of pure fact.

Great Source for Both NT and UNIX

I run a technical education company that specializes in training both UNIX and Windows NT administrators and developers. This book will be used in our future classes. It addresses all the key fundamentals of both operating systems. As a reference for either UNIX or Windows NT alone, this book is good for any system administrator. As reference for interoperability, it completely reviews every major concept, command and utility in a very understandable manner.

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATORS MUST GET THIS BOOK

I am a senior UNIX system administrator with a book shelf full of references. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST BOOK I HAVE SEEN ON EITHER UNIX OR WINDOWS NT.We recently began introducing Windows NT into our large enterprise. I needed a good reference for the work ahead. I purchased two other books on the integration subject before discovering the Williams-Gardner book. The other books were half the size with far less credible information. I strongly recommend this book as the definitive guide. It is well organized, authoritative and comprehensive. I also really like the reference chapters at the end. I can throw away my Nutshell books as well thanks to this book.I can't say enough positive about how valuable this book is for my job.

Excellent Reference for academic and industry use

As a professor in computer science at a major university, I see many books cross my desk. It is rare that I find a publication that is so comprehensive that I would develop a new graduate level course around its contents. This is is one of those rare publications. It is used by my students and I widely recommend it to my corporate consulting clients. In addition to exceptional discussions of the two operating systems, the book also provides one of the best quick reference guides available anywhere. The appendix provides over 200 pages of UNIX and Windows NT commands that are uniquely cross referenced. This is a most have book for anyone involved in UNIX and/or Windows NT administration.
