Unlucky enough to be the 13th president, Fillmore still lived an amazing life. Born in a log cabin, he developed a tremendous hunger for learning. That drive and his love for an inspiring young lady propelled him to make a success of himself. HIs political career spanned 3 different political parties and put him in charge of a country in great peril of division over the issue of slavery. His part in the compromise that kept the nation together for 11 more years also placed him in the target-line for criticism. Despite this heartache and personal tragedies, he spent the rest of his life developing his beloved city of Buffalo into a cultural center of commerce.
