The world teeters on the brink of war in the fateful year of 1938. British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain goes to great lengths to appease Hitler, even ceding nations to him the British have no control over. The appeasement infuriates Admiral Will Danger, the leader of The Family special operations unit. Danger does not want war, but he knows giving a bully what he wants will never cause the bully to stop demanding more. His anger eventually brings him to a terrible confrontation with Chamberlain.

Against the political background, Danger's forces are moving against Hitler's secret naval bases, strategically positioned form the Caribbean to the Mediterranean as he attempts to deny the Nazis any strategic advantage once the war begins. The Family's personal war with Hitler demands a heavy price be paid by The Family to do what no nation has been willing to attempt.

Danger, The Kid, and their wives send their oldest children, Sean and Stormie who are now married, behind enemy lines to gather intelligence and begin a new rescue operation to help Jews in Czechoslovakia escape the country before the Nazi onslaught traps them. The rescue operation goes into high gear as war appears imminent. The Family is determined to get in the first blows in a war that will span years.
