Wild Western Desire

A lusty Western tale by the author of Defiant Captive. When New York writer Katy Halliday goes to Durango, Colorado, to research her wild west novel, she's quite taken with Rait Caldwell, a badman all dressed in black, sporting a silver-handled Colt Peacemaker. And Rait's equally taken with Katy, vowing to help her all he can with his own kind of research.

I had a great time with this book.

Rait Caldwell was waiting by the train, ready to pick up the package sent to him by Richard Halliday. That he had a number of better things to be doing that morning was certain, but regardless, Richard Halliday had done Rait an enormous service a year ago and he was ready to repay. All he had to do was pick up a package and keep it safely for a month before returning it to Halliday. Piece of cake. Then as the train comes to stop before him his eyes are caught by the gaily attired young miss who looks as if she's died and gone to heaven. Her bright shiny eyes immediately draws his attention but after that he can't take tear his gaze away from her bright yellow attire. From the ribbons on her hat, to the hem of her skirts, she's head to toe yellow. And then the last line of Halliday's telegram suddenly makes sense, "identify baggage by yellow wrapping." No. No damn way, he thinks. Rait already has this baggage back on the train for a return trip to New York before he remembers the desperation that nearly destroyed him a year ago, that was eased by the sudden arrival of Halliday. If this is his way of calling in a favor, Rait has no choice but to do the honorable thing. But after this, he figures he and Halliday are square, because Miss Katy Halliday is a handful Irrepressible is not descriptive enough to do this lady justice. Determined to take advantage of her trip out West, she can't wait to wade right into the thick of things, happy to soak up everything she can for material for her great as-yet-untold dime book masterpiece. That Rait glowers at her with murderous intent only adds happiness to her already happy day. Each new dawn kicks off a thrilling adventure and surrounded by some of the greatest gunfighters and lawmen to ever walk the dusty streets of the Wild West, Katy is beyond thrilled to witness history in the making. What's even better is that Rait no longer looks at her with murderous intent in his eyes, but something more like longing and heated desire. It's yet another new adventure Katy can't wait to experience but after one taste, this miss knows once will never be enough. As history unfolds around them, Katy longs to show Rait Caldwell that she's the only woman for him and he's the only man for her. Ahhh, Katy. This girl may be a halfwit, but at least she uses the half a wit she has. She was adorable, charming, utterly irrepressible, a useful battle scout? Plus, she was undaunted by the meanest of scowls and a bit of a naughty freak. I loved her! She may have had her head in the clouds but I still felt she had her feet anchored to the ground. If you love Julie Garwood heroines, then you would probably love Katy. Rait. Now, first of all, is it pronounced Rate? Or Rat? While there was one moment where the moniker Rait the Rat was appropriate (though that moment was jarring and seemingly inappropriate to his personality) Rait was far from rat-like. If you like Julie Garwood heroes, then you will probably eat Rait up. He was th
