Great story with imaginative illustrations!

My 5 yr old grandson was delighted with Widget and the Puppy (from the library). He read it over and over and was especially interested in the pictures and could always find something funny that he had missed the previous reading. I bought him his own copy, along with Widget, for his sixth birthday. He loves both books! Both make wonderful bedtime reading.

It's a Keeper!

My husband and I never get tired of reading this book to our 2 year old daughter. It's easy to read and we really enjoy the pictures. The story is creative and cute. We borrow a lot of children's books from the library and this is one I am going to buy now since I just renewed it the maximum number of times!

A SMALL DOG HAS A BIG JOB

Teamed both professionally and personally this husband/wife partnership have created an engaging picture book about a small dog who faces a large task. Widget, the small dog, lives with Mrs. Diggs and the girls (six cats). Now, Widget is a smart fellow, but he's also small - too small for the large puppy that shows up on their doorstep. Obviously he's lost, and Diggs instructs Widget to look after him while she tries to find the pup's owner. Well, the pup is a growing canine, and first he eats all of Widget's food, then he devours the cats' food. Following that he washes his meal down with water which he sloshes all over the floor. Do you think the girls are any help? Not at all. But, there's more to come - the puppy manages to sneak out the door with the girls in hot pursuit. Poor Widget, now it's up to him not only to clean up the house but to round them up. But, how can you round up a fun loving pup who's enjoying "Chase the Frogs" and "Treasure in the Trash." Youngsters will have a good time following the adventures of Widget enlivened by brightly colored illustrations. - Gail Cooke
