Kavita Trevena aka The Unlikely Mummy a Non- Profit community investment organisation, created to support the community for parents across Bexley as well as online and worldwide. Kavita created The Unlikely Mummy because she was diagnosed with both Postnatal Depression and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and used her experiences and struggles to support mums by being a mental health advocate for them. This first started when the National Childbirth Trust (NCT) approached her to be the spokesperson for their campaign for mums receiving six to eight week GP checks after having their babies. She has supported Maternal Mental health awareness weeks, featured on BBC Radio 4 women's Hour, Channel 5 news, and various podcasts. She has magazine articles and spoken about the impact of having children on her mental health on LBC Radio with Natasha Devon on a subject that is not widely spoken about. Kavita is also an award-winning blogger with her own mindfulness book, she is also writing a series children's story book talking around feelings. She has written this to tackle the conversations to be had with toddlers and young people and to help them better understand that even though mummy is sad a lot, she still loves them. More recently Kavita was recognised through Digital Women's Community Leader of the Year Award for the support she gives to those in the community Kavita is very passionate about the work she is doing for the community both in person and online, with a series of pop-up events, workshops and markets. To better support families and parents, she has trained in Mental Health first aid and counselling and she is a Perinatal Mental Health Researcher, Lived by Experience and Expert by Experience perinatal mental health researcher as well as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner.
