A Battle Cry for Blue Collar America

Witty and relevant; articulate and timely. The authors here turn a familiar spiteful sentiment against corporate greed and playground bullies into a plea for the salvation of the game of Major League Baseball. In "Why I Hate The Yankees," O'Connell and Pahigian shine a light into the bed of the so-called "Yankee Mystique" - illuminating Phil Rizzuto's unlikely assignment to the Hall of Fame, sportswriter George King's misappropriation of the 1999 AL MVP award, and more instances of pinstripe chicanery than you knew had names. These guys have clearly done their homework, and somehow it all comes out fun. Not just for Yankee haters, either. Also offered inside this book is a plan for redemption for the Yankee-faithful (oxymoron); a ray of hope on the horizon of the bleak landscape of Steinbrenner's evil empire. "Why I Hate the Yankees" is a humorous, sensitive, and worthwhile treatise in defense of the American Dream. If the underdog is going to continue to pick himself up and brush himself off in hopes that he might one day come out on top - then he might do well to reflect upon why he hates the Yankees.

Great Book For Baseball Fans

Wow, as an avid Red Sox fan, I always knew the Yankees were evil and bad for baseball, but until I read this book I didn't know just how thoroughly detestable individuals like George Steinbrenner and Alex Rodriguez really are. The authors do a great job of blending amusing...but revealing...anecdotes and stories with facts and figures that support their claims. A great read.
